ANNAPOLIS AREA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL UPPER SCHOOL ATHLETICS MEDICAL EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN (EAP)
Annapolis Area Christian School Upper School is located at 109 Burns Crossing Road, Severn, MD 21144
In the event of a medical emergency, Annapolis Area Christian School (AACS) is serviced by Odenton Volunteer Fire Company.
This written EAP should be followed in the event of an athletic medical emergency.

1. CALL 911
An emergency is the need for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to give further medical attention and/or transport an
athlete to the hospital. It is important in these situations that coordination between the athletic trainer, coaches, and
administrators be effective. This guide is intended to outline the protocol to be followed should an emergency occur.
Situations when 911 should be called include:
- An athlete is having difficulty breathing, absence of breathing and/or pulse
- An athlete has lost consciousness/is unresponsive
- It is suspected that an athlete may have a neck or back injury
- An athlete has an open fracture (bone punctured through the skin), deformity, dislocation
- Severe heat exhaustion or suspected heat stroke
- Severe bleeding that cannot be stopped
- Anaphylaxis
- Uncertainty if you have a medical emergency
2. Give directions to the Operator for EMS to report to Annapolis Area Christian School, 109 Burns Crossing Road, Severn,
MD 21144 and meet (YOUR NAME) at the (PATIENT LOCATION). Refer to Campus Map as needed.

3. Provide necessary information to Operator:
a. Your Name and telephone number
b. Number and age of patient(s) and their condition
c. Any initiated treatment
d. Specific directions once on scene
e. Other info requested by the Operator
4. Available Emergency Equipment
Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are located in the Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D) ground floor lobby
next to the elevator, in the Kerr Center for the Arts (Building B) ground floor close to the teachers’ lounge, and in Sulin Hall
Academic (Building A) ground floor at the copier. During after-school scheduled athletic events, the athletic trainer will have
a mobile AED.
5. Emergency Personnel for Athletic Events:

6. Direct personnel to receive EMS at the school entrance. Direct personnel to contact the parent
7. Provide appropriate emergency care until EMS arrival.
8. If transport by EMS is deemed necessary, local hospitals include the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington
Medical Center, 301 Hospital Dr., Glen Burnie, MD 21061 and Anne Arundel Medical Center, 2001 Medical Parkway,
Annapolis, MD 21401.
Venue-Specific Directions for Emergency Vehicles:
Field A (field hockey/lacrosse)- Directly on the left when entering campus. Field access is through the first parking lot.

Field B (soccer/lacrosse)- The second field on the left when entering campus. Field access is through the first or second parking lots.
Tennis courts (Tosé Family Tennis Center)- When entering campus, follow the drive around to the left. Tennis courts will be directly
ahead of Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D). Court access is straight ahead through the gate on the sidewalk.
Main gym of Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D)- (volleyball, basketball, cheer)- When entering campus, follow the drive
around to the left. The main gym is located on the ground floor of the Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D) (third building).
Auxiliary Gym of Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D) (indoor practices and games)- When entering campus, follow the drive
around to the left. The auxiliary gym is located on the second floor of the Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D) (third building).
Field House of Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D)- (various practices)- When entering campus, follow the drive around to
the left. The field house is located on the ground floor of the Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D) (third building) section closest
to the tennis courts.
Baseball field- When entering campus, follow the drive around to the left. The field is located directly on the left of Sulin Hall Academic
(Building A) and Kerr Center for the Arts (Building B) are on the right. Field access is through parking located next to the left of Kerr
Center for the Arts.
Softball field- When entering campus, follow the drive around to the left. The Tosé Family Tennis Center will be directly ahead after
Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center (Building D) on the right. The softball field is to the left of the Tosé Family Tennis Center. Field access is at
the end of the parking lot next to Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center.
Football field- When entering campus, follow the drive around to the left. The Tosé Family Tennis Center will be directly ahead after
Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center. The softball field is to the left of the Tosé Family Tennis Center. The football field is behind the softball
field. Field access is at the end of the parking lot next to Herndon D. Kilby Athletic Center.
Cross country course- Surrounds the perimeter of campus. There is no specific direct access for emergency vehicles.
