Exciting News for AACS Middle School: A Move That Strengthens Mission, Community, and Learning

Coming Fall 2026: AACS Middle School Relocates to Our Upper School Campus in Severn

Annapolis Area Christian School is thrilled to announce that beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, our Middle School (grades 6–8) will join our High School on the Upper School Severn campus—bringing two divisions together on one site.

This decision reflects AACS’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, strong community, and the flourishing of every student. As a school, we are focused on mission fidelity and durability. The move will provide us opportunities to focus our resources on strengthening our commitment to academic excellence and ensuring the long-term financial health of AACS so we are able to serve Christian families for future generations.

As we prepare for this exciting new chapter, we want to help prospective and current families understand what this move means for your child’s experience at AACS.

Prospective families will have the opportunity to learn more about the transition process at admissions events.

Why This Move? Mission Coherence and Stewardship

Our vision is to provide a distinctively Christian, academically excellent education for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. After thoughtful planning, prayer, and strategic review, we believe relocating the middle school to the Upper School Severn campus will:

  • Foster greater academic coherence between middle and high school
  • Increase collaboration between teachers in core subjects like math, science, English, Social Studies, and Bible
  • Strengthen our curricular and co-curricular programs in performing arts, visual arts, and athletics.
  • Enhance student learning outcomes through intentional curriculum alignment
  • Maximize the use of our Upper School campus resources to serve students more effectively
  • Provide for increased leadership opportunities with students serving and mentoring each other

Our Severn campus spans 85 acres, 60 of which are buildable—giving our students access to facilities and opportunities that simply aren't possible on a standalone site.

What This Means for Your Middle Schooler

Whether your student is enrolling in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in Fall 2026, they will benefit from a cohesive and dynamic environment that supports both academic and spiritual growth.

Here’s what to expect:

An Environment Designed for Student Flourishing

Students in grades 6–8 are navigating a formative stage of growth. This move allows us to create a space that meets them where they are developmentally—providing greater access to resources, mentorship, and challenge.

Stronger Academic Coherence

Being on the same campus as the High School allows for regular collaboration among faculty. This leads to a seamless learning progression, especially in core academic disciplines, and helps ensure that each grade builds intentionally upon the last.

Expanded Facilities & Enrichment Opportunities

Middle school students will gain regular access to:

  • Technology-rich classrooms
  • Upper-level course options
  • A professional-grade performing arts stage
  • Gathering spaces designed for community building
  • Renovated athletic facilities and fields
  • A dining hall with nutritious and varied food options

 A Strengthened Sense of Community

Being part of a unified campus allows for deeper community life, more student leadership opportunities, and meaningful cross-grade mentorship—hallmarks of an AACS education.

Stability in a Season of Growth

While this move marks a significant transition, it is a thoughtful and mission-driven step toward strengthening the future of AACS. We remain committed to:

  • A smooth transition for families
  • Thoughtful integration of middle school routines and identity
  • Preserving age-appropriate spaces and programs

For all our staff and faculty, the Portrait of a Graduate is our guiding framework, shaping every aspect of our curriculum from Kindergarten through 12th grade. It defines the kind of students we are prayerfully raising: young men and women who are rooted in Christ, intellectually prepared, servant-hearted, and culturally engaged. This framework, along with increased collaboration of the AACS team, will only enhance our ability to serve our students and families.

We know that change can raise questions—and we welcome them. Our team is here to walk with you as you consider joining the AACS community. Much more information will be available to prospective parents at the admissions events.
