Mr. K: Thoughts to start the year
Posted 08/14/2013 03:31PM

Dear Eagle Teammates,

As we count down the days and eventually the hours to the opening of school, I wanted to briefly share a few thoughts with you regarding our 2013-2014 school year. To begin with, thank you to the many of you who commented positively about our "orientation day" on Tuesday. Thank you also to those of you who had the time to stop by our new Central Offices for a visit and tour. I think we're ready!

First and foremost, I want to encourage you on a spiritual plane. Here it is...

Lead with Jesus. Share your personal testimony with your students. Pray with your students. Share with them examples from your spiritual journey that correspond to the learning in the classroom. Encourage them in their faith journey. Encourage them to be regular in attendance in a local church.

Next, provide for your students an academic experience that is challenging and moves them up and down Bloom's Taxonomy and invites them to think critically.

Also, look for opportunities to partner with our school parents. Be prompt and responsive to their emails and phone calls. Reach out to them with a smile and cheerful greeting when you see them on campus or at school activities. Tell them that you want to partner with them.

Finally, know that your faith and your example are the Living Curriculum of our school. Whether it is a classroom or in a role that supports our teachers/classrooms, your/my walk and your/my talk have influence.
You are all difference makers!

Blessings on your year!

Rick

Matthew 6:33

P.S. If you work with 5th graders, 8th graders or seniors, I would love to get your/their reaction to the letters I sent to each of them last week. I'll have Beth send you a copy of the letters.
