Boys' JV Soccer Team to Participate in Bike-A-Thon |
|
When: October 24, 2009
What Time: 8:00 am ~ 12:00 pm
Members of the 09-10 boys' junior varsity soccer team are participating in a bike-a-thon to raise money for an organization called Kupenda (kupenda.org). Kupenda ("to love" in Kiswahili) for the Children is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt Christian-based organization that exists to meet the needs of children with disabilities.

The bike-a-thon will occur on October 24, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the BWI trail (approximately 10 mile loop). Sponsors will be donating money for every mile that the player bikes. So for instance, if you donate $5 per mile and the player bikes 1 lap around the trail, then you would be giving $50. Payments will be due after the event.
We are also teaming up with Adventures for the Cure (adventuresforthecure.com) which is the avenue that led us to Kupenda. AFC is a non-profit organization that raises funds for worthy causes by means of adventure. Rob Irias, boys' junior varsity soccer team head coach is fortunate enough to be part of their mens cycling team and has seen firsthand how they have helped the underprivileged worldwide. Please prayfully consider giving and in doing so help us understand the meaning of service. Donations can be made through AFC's website adventuresforthecure.com (Click the link to go to the AACS Bike-A-Thon informational webpage). Please make checks payable to Adventures for the Cure. |
