News vs. Announcements
Posted 10/03/2013 04:28PM
News vs, Announcements...likely a delineation that you haven't spent much time thinking about! However, when trying to get the right info, to the right people, at just the right time, the difference between News and Announcements makes a BIG difference! So, in the effort of getting everyone on the same page, here is how we will determine the difference:
News: Any big change, performance, accolade, etc. that is of interest both within and outside of our AACS community.
News categories are still in development but will likely evolve into a pattern similar to an online newspaper (sports, people, community, spiritual life, the arts...etc.). As new news categories are developed, we will be sure to let you know.
Announcements: Any notices that are important to our internal AACS family.
Announcements may pertain to a bigger news item, but are designed to alert you of specific things that need to be done. Announcements can be separated by division and by audience (students, parents, faculty and staff).
You can ensure that you receive the appropriate information by ensuring that your information in our Student Information System (Veracross) is correct.
In order to view the latest anonuncements,
you must be logged in to your portal.
Therefore, please make checking for announcements a daily habit. Thank you!
Q: How do I submit an announcement?
A: Continue to contact your school office to submit your announcements.
Q: How does this system jive with the Navigator?
A: We understand there are varying preferences on communication, especially from division to division. Don't worry, we would like to continue what you are used to, as we work in this new opportunity. We will do our best to make sure that everything in the Navigators is also on the website, but we encourage you to give the new system a chance to take root, as we are able to make announcements on a continual basis, and no longer need to be constrained by paper, space or timeframes. We will be working to implement standards for conciseness and invite your participation through feedback (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We look forward to continuing improvement in our announcement system, and thank you for your patience as we all get used to the new system. Questions can be directed to Jennifer Good, our chief communications officer, or Marnie Litz via email@example.com.
