Why have you chosen to serve on the AACS Board of Directors?

I felt called to serve on the Board because I am consistently impressed with the leadership and faculty at AACS and their love and care for my children, which is evidence of their love for God. The goal of the school is to show our children a Christian worldview as well as give them an overall excellent education. This goal has been reached and surpassed, and I would love to take part in ensuring its future success. I feel strongly that if God and His will are at the center of the leadership of the school, we will continue to send strong Christian leaders out into the world who will live for Him.

What do you do when you are not at AACS?

We have a lot going on at our home, so I spend a lot of time cooking for whomever is there. We like to host the girls’ sports team events, youth group activities and missional community with our church, and a slew of midshipmen from the Naval Academy. I am a CPA by trade and work with my husband’s company doing those kinds of things as well as auditing and serving as treasurer for several non-profits. One of the most fulfilling things I am privileged to be a part of is working with an international mission organization called Reach the Rest which is dedicated to reaching unreached people groups around the globe. We serve as support and leadership to hundreds of missionaries - many of whom we get to serve in our home as well as visit in the field. God is at work, and I am so blessed to take part in it!

Tell us about your family.

My husband and I have been married for 22 years, and we have two amazing daughters that both attend AACS. Brooke is a rising senior and Amanda is a rising 10th grader. Both girls have been at AACS since Kindergarten and love their school. They both are avid lacrosse players, so we are often found on the sidelines somewhere cheering them on. We love to travel as a family all over the world and particularly love beaches and relaxing!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Anne Arundel County, and I received a Bachelors in Accounting from Towson State University in 1992. My entire family (as well as my husband’s) all live within 15 minutes of us. I even try to have all of them over once a week for dinner just so we can keep up with all of them and the cousins. It’s crazy, but we love it!

Describe a perfect Saturday morning?

I enjoy a Saturday with NO PLANS! I like to wake up early before the girls and make a nice breakfast for me and my husband to enjoy al fresco by the pool. I love talking about our plans and goals and dreams over good coffee and some kind of crazy egg concoction! I do eventually make the girls breakfast too…though they aren’t as fond of my egg creations!

What's one of your favorite Bible passages and why?

Lately (like for 7 years), I’m truly thinking a lot on John 13:35, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” This verse is just so essential to the Christian life and a great reminder to me every day. Jesus is telling his disciples that people will recognize them as followers of Him by their love. If I can love others every day and show them that I love them, this is evidence of my faith in Christ. If I can’t love others or show grace, what is this showing? I try to remember daily to show my love for Christ by loving others.
